Protection for Victims of Domestic Violence, Stalking, etc.

In order to protect victims of domestic abuse, stalking, child abuse, or any such similar conduct, per the victims request, the law may prohibit perpetrators from gaining access to review the Basic Resident Register and from receiving a copy of the victims Certificate of Residence or Family Register.
Who Can Submit A Request
Anyone who has experienced domestic violence as stipulated by Article 1, Section 2 of the Domestic Violence Prohibition Law, fears that further sustainment of violence will endanger their life or body, and fears the perpetrator may submit a request for their resident register for the goal of discovering their place of residence.
Victims of stalker-like behavior as stipulated in the Stalker Restriction Law Article 7, who fear they may be repeatedly followed, and that the perpetrator may submit a request for their resident register for the goal of discovering their place of residence.
Victims who have sustained child abuse as stipulated by the Child Abuse Prohibition Law Article 2 and are at risk of experiencing child abuse again or at risk of being hindered from receiving custody of the child, and fears the perpetrator may submit a request for their resident register for the goal of discovering their place of residence.
Others who have experiences similar to those listed in items (1) though (3).

At the time of application, verification of the applicant's identity (via a drivers license, etc.) is required.
In addition to the request application, please attach a copy of a「Protection Order Decision Letter」 or a 「Warning Letter of enforcement of the Stalker Restriction Law」, or any other such relevant documents. In the event that you do not include the supporting documents, it will become necessary to consult with police services in order to confirm the necessity of the request, so we ask you to please consult with them in advance.
Duration of Support
The duration of support services is one year from the day of the initial service request. Applications to extend the term of service can be made starting one month prior to the expiration date.
