最終更新日:2023年4月26日
Starting on May 8, 2023, a single dose of the booster shot will be administered to those who have a high risk of developing serious symptoms from COVID-19.
With the new vaccine rollout, the provision of vaccines that began in fall 2022 for anyone age 12 and older will be ending on May 7.
Eligibility
Vaccinations will only be available to those who meet the following requirements:
People who were administered the first two doses of the vaccine, received their most recent vaccine at least 3 months prior, and are
- 65 years of age or older
- Between ages 5-64 and have an underlying illness or are deemed by a doctor to be at a high risk of developing severe symptoms from COVID-19, OR
- Employees of medical institutions or nursing homes for people who are elderly or disabled (provide services where people who are at a high risk of developing severe COVID-19 symptoms are present).
For details about the Spring 2023 Vaccinations for children ages 5-11 (pediatric vaccines), please see the Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccine page.
Note:
Those who do not meet the above vaccination requirements cannot be vaccinated during the spring 2023 vaccination period.
However, the "Fall 2023 Vaccinations" that are scheduled to be rolled out in September 2023 will be available to anyone 5 years of age and older who has received the first two doses of the vaccine (including those who are vaccinated during the spring 2023 period).
Vaccination Period
May 8, 2023 to August 31, 2023 (Tentative)
The "Fall 2023 Vaccinations", available to people of all ages who are eligible for the booster shot, will be rolled out in September 2023 or later.
Those who would like to be vaccinated during the spring 2023 period are advised to do so by the end of August.
Available Vaccines
The following vaccines will be used, regardless of the type of vaccine you received previously.
- Bivalent Omicron-Adapted Vaccine (ages 12+; at least 3 months after previous vaccination)
- Takeda Vaccine (Novavax) (ages 12+; at least 6 months after previous vaccination)
Number of Doses
One booster shot is available per person during the vaccination period.
Vaccination Vouchers
Vaccination vouchers will be sent to the following people who received the Omicron-adapted vaccine after the fall 2022 rollout.
If you have a vaccination voucher that has not yet been used, you may use the unused voucher to receive your vaccine. If your unused voucher is lost or damaged, it will need to be reissued. Click here for information on how to apply for reissuance (JPN only). You can also call the COVID-19 Call Center (088-621-5495) or visit the COVID-19 Consultation Desk on the first floor of City Hall.
Eligible Vaccination Voucher Recipients
Tokushima City will send vaccination vouchers to those who meet the following requirements.
(Note: Although vouchers are scheduled to be sent 3 months after your most recent vaccine, there is a possibility of delay.)
People 65 years of age or older
Vouchers will be sent to all members of this age group.
(You will be sent a 3rd-6th dose vaccination voucher depending on the number of doses you have already received.)
Voucher Dose | Eligible Recipients |

5th Dose | People who received the 4th dose of the vaccine by October 31, 2022 |

Vaccination vouchers will be sent to those who received the vaccine from the beginning of the fall 2022 rollout to the end of October 2022 due to the fact that many people, including those who have underlying illnesses or healthcare professions, were vaccinated during that period.

How to Apply for a Vaccination Voucher
Those who are not considered eligible recipients of vaccination vouchers in Tokushima City, but meet the vaccination requirements and would like to be vaccinated during the spring 2023 vaccination period, must apply for the issuance of a vaccination voucher.
Click here for information on how to apply for a vaccination voucher (JPN only), or visit the COVID-19 Consultation Desk on the first floor of City Hall.
Tokushima City may also send vaccination vouchers to those who are not eligible for the spring 2023 vaccinations.
Even if you are sent a vaccination voucher, you will not be able to receive a vaccine if you do not meet the spring 2023 vaccination requirements.
(The 6th dose vaccination voucher will be sent to all people who have received their 5th dose. Please check whether or not you are eligible before booking a vaccine appointment.)
To find out whether you are considered to have an underlying illness or otherwise deemed to be at a high risk for severe symptoms, please check with your general practitioner or with the doctor at the time of booking your appointment or receiving your pre-vaccination screening.
If you are not eligible for this vaccination period, you will be able to use the voucher you were sent for the vaccinations starting in fall 2023 (in September or later). Please be sure to keep your vaccination voucher safe.
